My Kitchen Rules UK
Michelin Star chef and restaurateur Glynn Purnell and renowned food writer and Queen of Irish cooking Rachel Allen take over as judges for this new series of My Kitchen Rules UK. Over eight weeks, aided by some of the UK’s finest chefs and culinary gurus, the duo judge 20 pairs of enterprising and inspired amateur cooks from four regions of the UK, who will open a home restaurant for one ambitious night, in a bid to scoop the £10,000 prize and the right to say, ‘My Kitchen Rules.’
Rachel Allen was brought up in Dublin and left home at eighteen to study at the world-famous Ballymaloe Cookery School where she now teaches. A busy TV chef, author, journalist and mother, she has written more than 15 bestselling cookery books, including her most recent ‘Home Baking’ which is published by Harper Collins on 6th October 2017. Her restaurant, Rachel’s, opened in Cork earlier this year.
Here she shares recipes from 'Home Baking', as well as ‘Coast: Recipes From Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way’ and ‘Recipes From My Mother’ both also published by Harper Collins.
‘Yummy Brummie’, Glynn Purnell, as he was once described by a food magazine, has put his home city on the culinary map, gaining Birmingham’s first Michelin star as head chef at Jessica’s Restaurant. In 2007 he opened Purnell’s, which was awarded a Michelin star within its first year, followed five year’s later by Purnell’s Bistro.
These recipes from Glynn are taken from his first book, ‘Cracking Yolks and Pig’s Tales’, which has just come out in paperback and his most recent, 'Rib Ticklers and Choux –Ins', both published by Kyle Books.
New in 2017 is the MKR Mansion Round where top chefs and culinary gurus join Glynn and Rachel as Guest Judges setting a Mystery Ingredient challenge for the day’s cooking team. A signature dish from each chef will be revealed on the day they make their MKR appearance. Watch this space!
